Broekman Logistics will use the logistics campus in Venlo for storage, logistics and assembly activities of various products including hazardous (ADR) goods. The total warehousing surface amounts 53.000 m2 and was built on the former project location of DSM Pharma Chemicals in Venlo. Furthermore, over 10.000 m2 of mezzanine floors and 2.500 m2 office space are available. In the long term, the entire operation should generate around 300 jobs.

Safety first
“This warehouse is used to store different material than in a regular warehouse”, explains Ralph Caspanni, CEO of Heylen Warehouses. “This building is suitable for storing and handling a large quantity and variety of dangerous and non-dangerous goods.” To ensure a safe way of operating, Heylen Warehouses applied their expertise and know-how for the development of an environmental secured warehouse.”
“The ultramodern warehouse is designed to be 30cm liquid-tight and has special industrial doors with a liquid barrier to prevent all forms of leaks into the environment. Furthermore, two extinguishing systems are available, one on water and one on gas, as some products cannot come into contact with water. The warehouse is also highly compartmentalised so in case of calamities the goods in the other compartments remain unaffected. “These measures are needed to ensure the safety of people, goods, and the environment,” Caspanni emphasises.
