As of November 1st, 2024, Broekman Logistics will take over the activities and assets of B.V. Expeditie- en Stuwadoors Maatschappij J.C. Meijers. With this acquisition, Broekman Logistics takes the next step in the Breakbulk Carousel. This project was initiated in 2018 by players in the port of Rotterdam, together with the Rotterdam Port Authority, to strengthen the breakbulk segment in the port.
J.C. Meijers is a well-known name in the Rotterdam stevedoring sector, with Erik Meijers as its owner. After leading the company for many years, Erik Meijers has chosen to transfer the terminal’s activities to JCMB B.V., a member of Broekman Logistics.
Rob van Dijk, Director of Operations at JCMB, says: “This acquisition is an important strategic investment for Broekman Logistics, as JCMB is located adjacent to the Broekman Project Services terminal. The expertise and facilities strengthen our position as an industry specialist for breakbulk, heavy lift, and offshore. We look forward to collaborating with the customers and partners of J.C. Meijers.”
Twan Romeijn, Business Manager Breakbulk and Offshore Industry at Port of Rotterdam, adds: “This next step in the Breakbulk Carousel, together with all involved parties, shows that the Port of Rotterdam is strongly committed to the development and modernization of the breakbulk sector.”
The terminal covers 19,000 square meters, with a quay length of 270 meters, indoor storage of 3,000 square meters, and has a lifting capacity of up to 120 tons. Additionally, the terminal features a rail connection for multimodal transport solutions.
The financial details of the acquisition remain confidential.
